Day of 5 Rhythms Dance - Exploring our Inner and Outer Nature

Meditation/Ecstatic Dance led by Jan Rosa Lee. A day to immerse yourself in your own natural dance, supported by the practice of Gabrielle Roths 5 Rhythms work. We will learn to listen to our bodies, hearts and minds, and bring them into alignment by following this simple yet profound movement meditation/conscious dance practice. Starting with the truth of wherever and however we are, physically, mentally, emotionally… we will bring ourselves into movement, and dance the “Wave “, which is comprised of Flowing (earth ), Staccato (fire), Chaos (water ), Lyrical (air ) and Stillness (ether ).

Whether you are a complete novice or seasoned watercolour painter, come to our Watercolour fun day at Whistlewood common. You will be given the opportunity to experiment with techniques and colour mixing with some beautiful views and flora to paint, with advice, instruction and hints and tips from Katherine Parrish. Paper and paint will be provided, but bring your favourite watercolours if you would prefer.
Moonlight Bellydancing Workshop

In the workshop, a brief history of Bellydancing will be covered, as well as various styles and types of music. You will learn a short routine which you will have the opportunity to perform at Whistlewood’s Music Festival the following Saturday, 22ndJune. This is entirely optional. The importance of Bellydancing music will be discussed as well as the costumes that are worn when performing at haflas (bellydance parties) and shows. Be prepared to get the bellydance bug yourself ….you too may fall in love with this magical form of dance.

Lachrimae Consort: Celebrating Queen Elizabeth I

Last year The Lachrimae Consort performed their very popular “Celebrating Shakespeare” programme at the 1620’s House. They return again with a new programme celebrating the music and times of Queen Elizabeth I, who was herself an accomplished musician and she employed many outstanding musicians at her court.We will hear dance music and songs that she would have known, together with recollections of some of the nobility present at the court. The musicians of The Lachrimae Consort are all expert in playing instruments of the time, including treble viol, bass viol, recorder, bandora, cittern and lute. Doors open at 7.00 pm...
