New Lount Nature Reserve

A talk from the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, North West group. John McDonald describes the history of the site and explains how this former colliery has been transformed into an excellent nature reserve which hosts a wide range of amphibians, reptiles and birds.

"Watercolour Landscapes" with Thringstone W.I. The next Thringstone W.I. Meeting will be on May 21st at 7.30pm at Thringstone Methodist Church Hall. Feeling Artistic?! Come and join us with Ingrid Daniels, who will be sharing her love of art. Ingrid works in various mediums and will demonstrate drawing in pen and ink, members and visitors will be encouraged to join in and try our hand at painting a watercoulour landscape. If you want to share our evening as a visitor where you will be made very welcome, cost is £5 for refreshments and a raffle ticket.

Lachrimae Consort: Celebrating Queen Elizabeth I

Last year The Lachrimae Consort performed their very popular “Celebrating Shakespeare” programme at the 1620’s House. They return again with a new programme celebrating the music and times of Queen Elizabeth I, who was herself an accomplished musician and she employed many outstanding musicians at her court.We will hear dance music and songs that she would have known, together with recollections of some of the nobility present at the court. The musicians of The Lachrimae Consort are all expert in playing instruments of the time, including treble viol, bass viol, recorder, bandora, cittern and lute. Doors open at 7.00 pm...
