Ruffle Remembers: Storytelling and Remembrance Day Workshop

When 21st October, 11am - 3pm

Join Ruffle the Rail Dog and his friends as they embark on their latest adventure! There are two sessions running: 11am – 12:30pm & 1:30pm – 3pm Learn about the incredible role Airedale Terriers, just like Ruffle, played in WW1 and how purple poppies help us to remember all animals in war. Then take part in Remembrance Day themed crafts where you will be able to make your own purple poppy to display on a life-sized model of Ruffle! Copies of Ruffle’s books will be available to purchase on the day. £5 per child. Pre-booking is essential.

Cardiac Research

Breedon on the Hill WI welcomes guest speaker Prof. Gavin Murphy who is an academic cardiac surgeon at the University of Leicester. He is the Director of the Leicester Clinical Trials Unit (LCTU) and Cardiothoracic Surgery Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons of England Clinical Trials Initiative. In 2012 he was appointed the British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Leicester. Prof. Murphy will discuss cardiovascular research and how it improves the lives of patients suffering with heart failure. 7pm for tea & coffee for a 7:30pm start at Breedon Parish Hall, Priory Close, Breedon-on-the-Hill...

Witchcraft in Leicestershire

Join one of Bosworth Battlefield’s Guides for a fascinating talk about the women accused of witchcraft in 17th Century Leicestershire. Focusing on the Flowers family of Belvoir and those involved in the Husbands Bosworth witch trials, the talk will also explore the lives of Elizabeth Woodville and Black Annis, as well as one of the last witch trials in England. £6 per person, pre-booking essential.

Wildegoose Nursery - Over The Years & Through The Seasons

Jack and Laura Wilgoss run a small independent nursery and garden housed within the old brick walls of a former kitchen garden, nestled in the beautiful Shropshire Hills. They started as specialist growers of hardy perennial viola but their range now encompasses many flowering perennials and grasses. Jack will be joining us to tell us the story of the nursery. All welcome, please come along!
